Peninsula Living: THE ANSWER: Who Can Name This Building?

Last week I posted my monthly game for readers of my newsletter and my Facebook Fan Page, "Who Can Name This Building?"

Of those who contacted me, 8 people had correct answers so were entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to one of our local businesses.

Carrington Hall, Sequoia High School, Redwood City, CAThe Answer: Carrington Hall at Sequoia High School in Redwood City, California

I learned from one of my callers, a music teacher whose husband had served for many years as the Superintendent of Schools in neighboring San Carlos, that the Hall was named after Dr. Carrington, a gifted musician and music teacher at Sequoia High School, and that the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra originally met here to practice and perform.

Another entrant in the contest made 2 incorrect guesses before contacting me with the right answer, saying "I'm as blind as a bat and dumb as a doorpost...it's Carrington Hall at Sequoia High School...I only worked there for 20 years!" We had a great laugh together as I applaud her for her persistence--I had a feeling she knew!

Next month another local building, place or park will be featured, so join in the fun!

What a great idea for a post ... fun too!  I already have an idea for a "spin" on the topic.  Thanks!

Lottie:  Just HAD to come back to get the answer to this!  But wow .. THAT'S a high school building???  Stunning!  I hope they are always smart enough to keep this building intact and in good repair ... they just don't build them with that type of beauty any longer.  Thanks Lottie!

Gene, Sequoia High School is the oldest public high school on the Peninsula between San Franciso and San Jose. A special bond issue passed during flush times paid for major renovations to Carrington Hall and many, many other school facilities. Good thing it was done then; no municipal or state money here these days.
