Crazy title there huh???? Well, it is a true statement.
I along with many others wouldn't be alive today if not for your help.
As a toddler, I was wearing a flanel gown and standing next to a gas heater. When the front door opened, the wind blew my gown into the flame. My mom fought to get it off before I was burned, but because of the material it was made of, I was burned and so were her hands. I was immediately taken to a local hospital where I was treated and released in 1 week. When at home for a week infection set in and my parents took me to Dr Holt in Athens, Texas where I was treated and skins graphs done. After months of trying Dr Holt said he couldn't get skin to live on my back and was out of options. My parents told Dr Holt that they didn't care where they had to go or what it cost, but to get me some help. A Shriner, Lloyd Taylor, who lived in the town we lived in, Canton Texas, was contacted and made a way for me to be in The Shriners Burn Institute in Galveston, Texas. The Shriners Hospital in Galveston opened just one month before I was there. God was watching over me. Today, I'm very thankful that I am alive even with the physical scars. I'm very lucky that the scars can be hidden but even if not, I'm thankful that God isn't finished with me yet. Because The Shriners Burn Institute saved my life, I want to help them so that other children have the same opportunity I had.
I just had a very nice conversation with Bo Basma the manager of IHOP at 11020 E 71st, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has been working very hard to promote and raise money for the Shriners. I'll be inviting all my friends to join me on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 for pancakes and helping the Shriners Hospitals. If you have an IHOP in your area, join me in supporting the Shriners Hospitals. You will enjoy a short stack of IHOP's famous pancakes on the house and have a great opportunity to donate to a wonderful cause. If you don't have an IHOP but would like to join me in this great cause, Bo Basma said you can give him a call at 918-254-2277 and make a donation over the phone.
Bo, thank you for your time and I'll see you with all my friends on Tuesday!
I am not being compensated in any way for this support.
I was given more than money can buy 44 years ago.
