"Time Out" in San Francisco, CA

After a morning spent doing computer work, my husband and I took off in the afternoon to enjoy hiking up and down some of San Francisco's hills, enjoying dinner at our favorite fish restaurant, Hyde Street Seafood and Raw Bar, and capping off the day with an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista.

While there, we popped into the Cable Car Museum, and finished our walk back to our car at the Marina Green area by walking through Ft. Mason.

I hope you enjoy these video clips -- and I promise to some day figure out how to minimize wind noise!

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Lottie, enjoyed both videos. You are quite the tour guide! It is obvious you had a great Saturday.

Hi Barbara, thanks for 'walking' around the City with me. Today I was showing property all day (well, 7 hrs!) in San Jose where the temps were in the 90s; yesterday in SF it was isn the 60s -- gotta love those microclimates!

Mary Kay, we love running up to the City when we have a bit of time --San Francisco is very small in physical size, so walking is a dream; the northern part of the City (Russian Hill, the Marina, Pacific Heights, Fillmore, Telegraph Hill, North Beach) is our favorite.

Lottie thanks for such a great treat!  I felt like I was right there in San Francisco - I place I fell in love with years ago but haven't been for way too long!

Lottie - there was an interesting article on the news here about the cost of sea food rising as a direct result of the oil disaster in the gulf.

When I was working over in Lafayette in the East Bay, I took off one weekend and walked the cable car route. I was never so sore in all my life after that weekend.

Russel, you make me laugh! Those hills are something, aren't they? It's sort of like Active Rain, though -- you get addicted to it.

Kathy, I read the same thing, and I expect we'll see it, too.

San Fran is such a great city to walk around, but boy do your quads ever get sore.  And it is from walking downhill not up.  Thanks for the tour, Lottie.

Debra, if you enjoy cities, chances are you'd like San Francisco. Come out and visit sometime!

San Francisco is a fabulous walking city, Jane. Those hills and staircases beat the gym any day for a good workout -- plus you get to meet and greet people and stumble across something new every time.

Lottie those were great videos. The way to eliminate the wind noise is to buy a good external directional mic to place on the camera with a windscreen.

You can start the research here.

http://desktopvideo.about.com/od/desktopeditinghardware/bb/externalmic.htm

You could get a wireless lapel mic which would eliminate most all of the background noise. There are many choices. I have both.

Do some research before making a decision. You could also find a local sound/video specialist and go there to try things out and get advice. You'll pay just a little more of course, but you'll get a bargain with the expert advice.

What I plan to do is use my external mic with windscreen to capture any ambient noise that I wish to have, and then do a voice over in the editing program. I'm not good at doing extemporaneous commentary on a video.

Right now I have a problem with my sound card not recording from my mic, and that's why I don't have the voiceover yet. So I use the brief written commentary to explain (plus it's for SEO).

We didn't have time to stop at Buena Vista this time in SF, and we ate at the Franciscan Crab Restaurant, which is also a great fish place. I did a video in the Franciscan but haven't edited it yet. Maybe in a couple weeks.

Hi Captain Bill -- thanks for your suggestions; I'll see if I can enlist my IT guy (hubby, computer engineer and techie) to help, and we'll start with your ideas. Much appreciated!

Hi Yvette -- you live in an exciting part of the country too. Glad you enjoyed my post. I live and work on the Peninsula, about 20 miles south of San Francisco, but love the City and visit often.
