Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, San Jose, CA , 11/25/10

The Silicon Valley Turkey Trot

Start your Thanksgiving Day off on the right foot by joining friends, family and neighbors at the 6th annual Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. Choose an event to suit your taste -- a 5K walk, a 5K run, or a 10K run -- starting and ending at the Guadalupe River Park in downtown San Jose, California.

In addition to having fun and doing something healthy for yourself, you'll also be giving thanks by raising funds to help the Santa Clara Family Health Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County. These charities provide families with "health, hope and a home." The Silicon Valley Turkey Trot has raised over $1 million dollars for these charities as of last year.

This photo was taken at the 2009 event. We'll be there again this year, and encourage you to come out, too. You'll enjoy an afternoon of sitting -- to watch a game or eat a feast -- after getting some good exercise and knowing you've made a difference in the lives of others.

Roger, judging by past years, it's great fund raiser, and fun besides. This year my daughter and son-in-law will be running in it too, in addition to my husband and me. Hopefully I'll round up a friend or two to join us and we'll have an early morning party!

Sounds wonderful, can't wait to hear all about it.  Have you heard anything from Mary Kay?  Haven't seen her around for a bit.

Lottie,  Such a wonderful way to raise money and get some exercise just in time to enjoy a feast.

A turkey trot!

Love the idea.. so does everyone call themselves turkeys?

What a delightful and healthy way to raise money for charity.

Tish, we had a great time last year, and I expect we will again this year. Makes eating that piece of pumpkin pie feel a bit less sinful, but it's great to share some of our bounty with these charity groups--they provide such needed help to folks

Judi - well, as you might guess, more than one person showed up last year with turkey headresses, turkey t-shirts, etc. Maybe I'll get a T-shirt with an axe on it! It's a fun way to start the day's festivities.
