Holiday Season--People Still Looking for Homes in Sunnyvale CA

Holiday Season--People Still Looking for Homes in Sunnyvale CA

962 Belmont Terrace #4 Sunnyvale CANot long ago I helped our last tenants find a home to buy. They moved out of this nice two-bedroom townhouse in Sunnyvale California last month, and we were concerned that with the holidays upon us the rental market might be slow. However, just days before Thanksgiving a couple who are renting an apartment not far away came to take a look, and knew it would be a great place for them to call home. And we're happy because we think they'll be wonderful tenants, which our background check substantiates. They'll be moving in December 10, and will have a great place in which to enjoy the holidays and welcome in the new year.

So, if you're hesitating to put your property on the market at this time of year, remember that housing needs don't stop. Fewer new listings for rent or for sale means that the serious buyers and renters will find your place more easily.

Hi Roger -- I'm often asked by sellers about putting their houses on the market at this time of year. We're seeing qualified buyers out actively looking right now--in fact, I'm working with 3 buyers right now--2 are ready to buy, the 3rd starting to think seriously about it. We could use some fresh inventory.

Hey Lottie!  You are so right!  At this time of year the serious buyers are more earnest than ever!

Hi Debra, I showed properties to two different buyers this weekend, and a third will be back in town tomorrow, ready to continue looking. Maybe the typical December slow-down will be less pronounced this year.

Hi Lottie:

We're getting a little surge of activity up here, too. Lots of cute young couples with good incomes ready to finally buy. We've also had total turnover in our 3U building in Alameda this past quarter. The last unit came up for rent this past weekend and we had more applications and a higher turnout than the previous two months. A weird, possibly good sign?

Cece, thanks for corroborating my feeling that it's not only the Peninsula feeling the buyers'/renters' energy right now. I knew SF was chugging right along, but I wasn't so sure about Alameda. Let's hope it's a good sign.
