A San Francisco Jaunt on a Saturday Afternoon
I've been working way too many hours, so after my morning appointments Gene and I headed to our favorite city for a bit of R&R and exercise. After parking the car in the neighborhood near UCSF (University of California, San Francisco - a first-rate medical school, hospital and labs) we hiked through the campus, past the new fortress-like laboratory building, and headed to the 'back yard,' Mount Sutro, which I used to hear referred to as Mount Parnassus. Amazing to find wild lands and winding hiking trails in the midst of San Francisco. Of course, that's one of the reasons we enjoy it so much. There's not a better city in which to hike!
After tramping around for a while, admiring nearby Sutro Tower (TV broadcasting) up close, we walked down Edgewood Avenue (see David Ames' post, California Dreamin') enjoying the beauty of the street, and then at the end of the block headed down Farnsworth Street. You'll get a kick out of this first block of Farnsworth Street; take a look!
An early supper at Crepes on Cole, then a 20-minute walk back to our car capped off the day nicely. I'm relaxed, well-rested, happy, and ready for tomorrow!
