Martin's Beach, Half Moon Bay, CA

Martin's Beach, Half Moon Bay, CA
Martin's Beach cabin, Half Moon Bay, 94019Martin's Beach, San Mateo Co, CA 94019There's something appealing about these little secluded cottages, tucked below scenic Highway One south of Half Moon Bay. From the highway one sees a gated drive and undeveloped land a common sight in this rural area. Not until you wind down toward the Pacific Ocean do the cottages come into view.

Martin's Beach cottages are not for everyone. They sit on leased land, with only about 10 years left on the leases, which are not expected to be renewed.

But for the right buyers, they are near perfect, and create memories to be treasured for decades to come. Read more about Martin's Beach and one buyer's experience below:

Two of these cottages are available today. Contact me if you are interested.

I had no idea those even existed.  From the pictures, the beach reminds me of Pajaro Dunes.  Even with the lease expiring, being able to enjoy that spot for 10 years would be very nice.

Lottie - they sound very interesting ..... what would they sell for given they only have abut ten years to enjoy them then (I assume) they become the property of the land owner.

Hi Bryan - you're not alone on the Peninsula/Silicon Valley in not knowing about these--one of the best-kept secrets around. Clients of mine bought one last years--their whole family (grown kids, and grandkids in Palo Alto, San Carlos and San Mateo) as well as extended family and friends love spending time there--lots of good memories being created.

Kathy, 2 are available now, a 2-BR/2-BA cottage listed at $179,000 and a 1-BR one for $185,000. Definitely not for everyone, but for the lucky family with disposable cash, they are awesome. No where on the San Mateo coast can you find a place on the beach like these--without paying millions, that is!

Why are the leases not expected to be renewed? Why?

It's my understanding that the owners have other plans for the property. I do know a group of cottage owners have been discussing continuation of the leases, but any buyer would be prudent to assume that the leases will not be extended.
