I'm thankful for the free time DocuSign provides

I'm thankful for the free time DocuSign provides ....

Take today, for instance. My morning was spent at my computer and telephone, working on three transactions, all at critical points in the transaction cycle.

  • One seller, living now in Santa Rosa, needed to sign a commission alteration agreement; they also needed to acknowledge new reports the buyer had arranged
  • One buyer, living and working in San Francisco, needed to sign a contingency removal as well as report covers
  • One potential buyer, living and working in Santa Clara, needed to write up a purchase offer and sign a myriad of documents that will be presented with it tomorrow. (Wish us good fortune--it's a great house for them.)

Google map Santa Rosa to Santa Clara CA

As you can see from the Google map above, it would have been nearly impossible for me to coordinate all of this had I needed to drive hither and yon. Instead, in one 4-hour stretch, this was all accomplished -- while I worked on additional tasks.

This evening I was able to get to my 90-minute yoga class. This afternoon I was able to get and preview a handful of houses for another prospective buyer. I was able to take a short lunch break and chat with my husband. And I even have a bit of time now to enjoy Active Rain.

Am I thankful for DocuSign and the free time it provides me? Take a guess!

And then guess who else is thankful for DocuSign --- my clients. It gives them free time, too.

This post is a submission to the DocuSign/ActiveRain Thankful Contest. It's possible I will win a prize for writing this post. You could win a prize too by going to the Contest Announcement and sharing your own story

Lottie: It looks like I'm going to be your first comment.  I'm going to have to try DocuSign on some of my loan applications and disclosures.  They won't accept this on final legal documents yet but I think it could same some time on the routine things.

Lottie, I'm not aware of anyone using this in Spokane yet, but I had to chuckle at your map.  2 hours and 9 minutes would put me right about half way to Seattle!

Hi Doug -- like Mikey used to say in the Life cereal ads (about a zillion years ago!) "try it....you'll like it."

Hi Valerie - I've been using DocuSign often since May when I went on vacation and carried on with getting a listing under contract and closed--all while I was away. It's easy to get spoiled.

Lottie in Silicon Valley - great tip on Docusign.  I am going to have to look into the software.  Was it easy to set up?

Hi Michelle -- it's super-simple to use. No software required, it's web-based. Log onto: www.docusign.com they have good tutorial on how to use it. I practiced by sending my husband a note with a signature place to see how it worked -- it's easy and saves gobs of time! Good luck!

Lottie, I have been considering Docusign lately... This is just another glowing recommendation for that service.  Glad you got to go to yoga- I'm a fan of that too!

Barbara, not only did I save time and money (and bridge tolls!) by using DocuSign, I was stress free all day. What can be better?

Jenn--any tool that helps me be more productive, and helps my clients, is a good one. Give it a try and see what you think!

Doug, life is, indeed, grand. And guess what I'm using today to get a rent-back signed? (Yep, we're in contract--another Silicon Valley multiple offer.)

I am going to get started using it as well in the very near future.  Already have it downloaded to my IPAD.

I wish we had that here in Manhattan.  We have round table closings and even for funding, we are so backwards that the lender is sitting at the table with us waiting for a phone call for the go ahead...no docusign here!

Debra-once you use it, you'll wonder why it took so long to get on board. I used it again yesterday, and again today -- and so it goes.

I expect that will change, Jennifer. Electronic signatures have passed the tipping point.
