Earth Day 2012

Earth Day, 2012

April blooms at Edgewood County Park, San Mateo CoSunday, April 22, 2012 -- Earth Day. Did the various Earth Day activities in your area give you pause for thought? Perhaps you're ending the day with a renewed sense of appreciation for our physical world and the sometimes fragile beauty that surrounds us. Hopefully you were able to spend a bit a time enjoying a park, a beach, a mountain. Maybe you pitched in and helped clean up a river bank, planted a tree or flowers, pulled weeds from an Open Space preserve.

Baker Beach and Golden Gate Bridge, SFEarth Day -- a time to reflect and make a pledge to ourselves to use our resources wisely and with joy. To learn about the history of Earth Day and how this movement got it's start, log onto the Earth Day organization's web page. Each of us definitely has the power to make our world a better place

I watched a lot of Earth Day things leading up to today and thought I am the one that makes everyone else turn off lights, recylce this or that, turn off the water and take quicker showers. But I need to do more outside my own little world. It makes me take time to think of the good I can do elsewhere than in my little home. Have a fabulous week, Lottie!

Well I actually forgot it was Earth day as I got up sick. With your post I will take some time to enjoy the outdoors.  We're always looking for ways to save energy and be greener.

I stayed in my lounge chair to reduce my footprint.

Tammy, good for you for being that person! That's where changes start, through example. You'll enjoy the history of Earth Day, I believe.

Anna -- hope you're feeling better. I think there's some bug that likes to travel--I was under the weather earlier this week. Not now though! Speedy recovery to you.

Keller Williams Team -- nothing wrong with lounging in your chair! Sometimes that's the perfect way to celebrate our world!

I'm buying and planting giant sequoia redwood trees in North Carolina.  Yes, North Carolina.  People don't realize they can grow in most climates in the US as long as the roots stay moist.  That'll be a shock to many who will think they are huge cedar trees!  LOL

And to you, Jennifer. I imagine NYC had many Earth Day activities going on today. It's nice to see the movement spreading and becoming so main stream.

Well, Nevin, I hope your California Coast redwoods will help keep you from being too homesick! Enjoy!

Hi Karen, I'm glad you enjoyed this post. We all need to remember not to take our natural world for granted. It's so beautiful.
