It's costly to live here. Our houses are often small and close together. We work hard in a fast-paced environment.
One reason: our fantastic weather!
This week, while much of the country has been suffering with unbearable heat, we have been out about about, enjoying our beautiful surroundings. Our hike yesterday in San Mateo County at Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve started high on the ridge that separates the rural west San Mateo County from the cities along the Peninsula.
We dropped down to the bottom through forests of Douglas Firs, ferns, blooming wildflowers, majestic redwoods, sparkling creeks amid sun and our glorious fog, keeping the temperatures moderate and spirits high.
In the winter, when many people make the trek from house, to auto, to office, we're out hiking, biking, running in our acres and acres of parkland and open space preserves up and down the Peninsula, in San Francisco, across the Golden Gate to Marin County, across the Bay Bridge to Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Life is different here. And we think it's pretty great.
