Living and working in the San Francisco area-fantastic weather

Wondering why we live and work in San Francisco (headquarters to Twitter, Yelp! and other high tech firms)? Or the Silicon Valley (home to Facebook, Google, Apple and others)?

It's costly to live here. Our houses are often small and close together. We work hard in a fast-paced environment.

One reason: our fantastic weather!

Fog and sun at Purisima Creek Redwoods OSPThis week, while much of the country has been suffering with unbearable heat, we have been out about about, enjoying our beautiful surroundings. Our hike yesterday in San Mateo County at Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve started high on the ridge that separates the rural west San Mateo County from the cities along the Peninsula.

sunlight streaming through fog, Purisima OSPWe dropped down to the bottom through forests of Douglas Firs, ferns, blooming wildflowers, majestic redwoods, sparkling creeks amid sun and our glorious fog, keeping the temperatures moderate and spirits high.

kiosk, Purisima Creek Redwoods OSPIn the winter, when many people make the trek from house, to auto, to office, we're out hiking, biking, running in our acres and acres of parkland and open space preserves up and down the Peninsula, in San Francisco, across the Golden Gate to Marin County, across the Bay Bridge to Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Life is different here. And we think it's pretty great.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

I've been watching all the reports on the high temps around the country.  There is no substitute for California weather.  The high prices are worth being cool and happy.

Lottie,  thanks for the temptation.  Love walking with you on ActiveRain and FaceBook.  If we lived closer I will join you for a power walk up & down a few hills.  For now I will visit frequently online.  Enjoy!

You got that right Lottie.  We are going to be up over 100 for the next few days here in the valley.   On days like that it's very tempting to escape over the hill to the bay area.

Richard, we pay big bucks for our small places, but the payoff is great. Weather and lifestyle - it's what it's all about.

Jim, our areas are so close, yet so very different. I have just the place for you to buy -- a studio with bay views here in our building -- are you ready for a pied-a-terre or investment property here?

Hi Carla, we think it's pretty nice here. The fog is our natural air conditioning--cooling off the area every evening so we start fresh each day.
