The World Series of the America's Cup is going on now, right in our own back yards in San Francisco.
Eleven super-fast double-hulled boats from 8 different countries have been competing in both individual one-on-one matches and fleet races. The first round of these races started Wednesday and finish on Sunday 8/26, 11:45 AM - 12:45. The final MATCH RACE will be from 11:45 AM - 12:00 Noon; FLEET RACE 7 follows from 12:15 PM - 12:45 PM.
Not being a sailor myself, it wasn't until I caught some live coverage courtesy of NBCSports that I realized just how exciting this is.
Do yourself a favor and tune in to thelive coverage Sunday, 8/26, 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM (NOTE: this is Pacific Daylight Time, 3 hours earlier than EDT)

Lottie, great pictures of the City and Bay. Fast boats and lots of excitement. My son was working for Oracle Corp until recently.
Lottie... these photos are great. I wasn't able to get down to or around the Embarcadero today, but, plan on being there Sunday afternoon... great localism post and shout out for the races!!
That's an event I would love to see live Lottie................how exciting!
Lloyd, did Oracle have a bus from the Marina to Redwood Shores? That's quite a phenomena here.
Peggy, I'm going down today, too. We plan to be out on the breakwater, near the start/finish line. (Then in the evening we'll watch the NBCSports coverage to see it again!)
Roger, take a look at yesterday's races on the embedded video - scroll forward to one of the 4 actual races if you don't have unlimited time. They're fascinating.
What a great photo opportunity. Your area has so many. I really enjoy San Francisco. I can't wait to get back there for a visit.
Lottie, I've watched the world cup in the past but nothing on it this year. I am not a tv watcher and usually watch whatever Don has the channel on, with me viewing over the top of one of my laptops while the show is on. I really enjoyed this the times that we've watched. is it over yet or is it too late to catch the final race?
I just checked your times again.. I'm too late. Missed it this year.
Lottie ... great photos! Sailing is a lot of fun and work! If you ever get the opportunity to go sailing ... do it! It's refreshing and invigorating ... makes way for a nice meal and cocktail afterwards.
Yes Lottie, I know about the shuttle buses. Lots of my young tech clients have moved up to the City and commute on those buses. Google provides shuttle buses that go all over the Bay Area including East Bay and Conta Costa county. But my son had an office in SF and Redwood Shores but only went into his offices weekly and didn't take a shuttle bus. He drove. Here's the full story: he moved to So CA last year because he got tired of cold weather which is really weird since he has been visiting his grandparents in Cow Hollow since he was born and knew all about SF weather. He moved to SF in 1995 and the Marina in 1999. He rented his Marina condo to the Chief Financial Officer for America's Cup, an Aussie. My wife and I are bummed because he had an extra bedroom and bath where we stayed. Personally, my wife and I really like the City and used to stay up there at his condo or my inlaws in Cow Hollow. Both locations are extremely fun. So now you know my whole life story.
