Space Shuttle Endeavour - Good Bye and thank you from San Francisco

After 19 years of service, the space shuttle Endeavour is on its way to a museum in southern California.

Thousands of San Franciscans headed out this morning to Crissy Field, to rooftop decks, and along the Embarcadero to catch a glimpse of its final piggy-back ride. This Realtor®, working from my home office this morning, was able to take a break and gaze out the window. I was not alone--every nearby rooftop deck had groups of people waiting to say a fond farewell.
Space Shuttle over San Francisco
Blue skies and calm air allowed for several low, sweeping passes along the bay between the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge, before the aircraft headed down the Peninsula, over San Carlos, on it's way to NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field in Mountain View.

How fortunate we are in so many ways.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

It flew right by and I missed it.  Darn.

Well, Jane, you'll have a chance to visit the museum, right? This was a rather poignant viewing--an end of an era.

One of my Facebook friends shot a video of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=167UIRimv1w&feature=share I thought it was pretty cool. Wish I could've seen it in person.

Lynda, it was quite a sight. Photos of the shuttle flying over the Golden Gate Bridge will be around for quite a while.

Lottie... I was so lucky to see it.  I was at the corner of 18th & Douglass when I saw it through the trees.  Awesome.

It was quite a sight, wasn't it Peggy? I enjoyed looking out my window and seeing so many people on their decks and roof tops. And then....the shuttle itself.

Lottie-Your pics are beautiful and the you-tube was amazing. I was surprised how low it was and people were allowed that close.

Good morning, Sharon. Our weather was perfect yesterday for low fly-bys over San Francisco Bay and the Peninsula. Enjoy your weekend!

I know your view and it must have been really spectacular to see from your vantage point.

A bay view condo in SF is great, whether it's fog creeping over the bay, sailboats, Mt. Tamalpais or -- the Space Shuttle Endeavor's fly-by. And, coming soon -- The Blue Angels!
