World Tree of Hope in San Francisco City Hall

The World Tree of Hope has once again taken center stage in San Francisco's city hall.

Tree of Hope SF City Hall

Not only does the tree make a spectacular backdrop for the many weddings, both large and small, that take place here, it spreads a great message of love, peace, and harmony.

Many thousand origami cranes, a symbol of peace, each contain a message of hope, love, kindness written on it, and decorate the tree. These messages are written by people of all ages, all faiths, and all walks of life, and represent hopes and dreams for the world.

Kathleen, I think next year at Thanksgiving time, I'll print out cranes for each of my family members to send a wish for next year's tree.

Donna, I'm glad you enjoyed this tree and its messages - very heartfelt ones decorate the tree. Merry Christmas!

Debe, thanks for enjoying this and its theme. Merry Christmas to you.

Good morning, Lottie. That is quite interesting. I have never heard of this or have seen a tree decorated with origami. By the way, origami is a very interesting hobby.

I Just stopped by to send you a quick message:

Merry Christmas to you and yours and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Hi Michael - there's a saying that if you have 1000 origami cranes, a wish of your will come true. This tree has thousands, so perhaps peace, kindness, tolerance and caring will win the day???

Hi Charles - thanks for stopping by. Returning the good wishes for Christmas and the New Year. See you in the Rain!

Hi Lisa, although the Treet of Hope has graced SF City Hall for a number of years now, this year was the first I saw it; it made quite an impression. Somehow, watching people say their marriage vows in front of the Tree of Hope was very inspiring.

I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas day.

What a beautiful tree! I love flocked trees and this one is really pretty! I wish I lived nearby so I could come see it for myself.

Posted by Sussie Sutton, UTR TEXAS Realtors - Rep for buyers and sellers. (UTR Texas Realtors) almost 4 years ago

Hi Sussie - The Tree of Hope really does look like a traditionally flocked tree from a distance. The 'flocking' is actually the thousands of paper cranes, each with a wish for the world.

Hello, Gene - I was quite taken by this tree when I saw it, and when I read the purpose and learned of all the wishes written on each crane, I appreciated it even more. Thank you for your New Year's wish - I wish the same for you.
