TBT-some things don't change

It is Throwback Thursday, and a gorgeous, sunny day in San Francisco and the Peninsula. The skies are blue, and heat is on the way. The weather might be warmer today than it was 36-38 years ago when this picture was taken, but the pumpkin fields in Half Moon Bay remain a delight and a feast for the eyes.

Lisa at Half Moon Bay, circa 1977

Gorgeous weather to enjoy year-round, and wonderful outdoor places in which to play and explore -- one of the reasons we like living here!

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

The hills and the pumpkins and that little face make this pic awesome!

Kerrie La Guardia - I remember that day well; we had spent time at the beach; the girls were soaked; we wrapped up Lisa in my sweater, then stopped for pumpkins. That same scenario plays out with familes today, although many of the pumpkin patches have gotten fancier, with corn mazes, etc. Good times!

Lottie you just reminded me that the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival is coming up soon. I might have to go again this year, it's been a few years since I've been to it.

Jim Patton  - Brace yourself for the crowds! Always fun times. This year it runs 10/10-10/19. Here's the link for the 2014 Pumpkin Festival

Nice. It is always wonderful to look back at great times we have had with our prized possessions. +Lottie Kendall. Lottie Kendall. How do I make your name a link?

Hi Cliff Keith  - good times! To link a name, it's like Facebook, @ sign then the name -- it usually works.

That evening Lottie. Wow! Talk about a field of dreams! I'm sure that as a little girl you had a difficult time picking out the perfect pumpkin.

Lottie

The kids love the pumpkin patch . . .  . and the adults do to.

Good luck and success.

Children certainly do enjoy the pumpkin patches and corn mazes.  You are lucky to have capture this memory.  Yes ago, I never thought about carrying a camera to the patch.

Wow Lottie, that is a lot of pumpkins, and the picture is so cute too!

Hi Michael Thornton - that little girl is my now-grown daughter. The only stipulation we had was that the kids had to pick a pumpkin they could carry! Good times.

You're right, Lou Ludwig - pumpkin patches are a visual feast.

True, Bette Gottwald - we didn't take nearly as many pictures 'back in the day' as we do now.

Yes, Bob Crane - Half Moon Bay is the local ocean-side town known for it's pumpkins, attractive visitors from far and wide.

Good morning Lottie. "Those were the days my friend" immediately came to mind. We were out in the patch last weekend, so much fun. Great photo.

Hello Joe Petrowsky - that song line goes through my head quite often.

Nancy Laswick - pumpkin time in HMB is a busy time

Thanks, Gita Bantwal - wishing you a great day, too.

Lottie - I love how you are sharing these wonderful photos of your family. Pumpkins were fun then and they are fun now!  I hope you get to take your granddaughter out and get some new pumpkins photos!

That's a timely found TBT photo, Lottie!  And, you're right - some things don't change!

I just read your post a little closer.  You mention it was taken in Half Moon Bay. I thought those hills looked familiar.  When I was a kid, we spent many weekends in that region.  My dad was an avid deep sea fisherman.  He would fish out of nearby Princeton-by-the-Sea.

Hi Laura Allen, Lake Tahoe - Truckee Real Estate for Sale www.TahoeLauraLuxuryHomes.com  - you know how some photos stick in your mind? I knew I had this one, and the timing was just right.

Myrl Jeffcoat - HMB hasn't changed too much over the years; the drive over the hill along 92 is more or less the same -- except Lombardi Spring has been closed off. The beaches and the pumpkins remain!

Good morning, Dale Poll  - thanks for stopping by - just a snapshot years ago, but one I treasure. Enjoy the day.
