As if the climate, the strong economy, the recreational and cultural opportunities weren't enough -- not to mention the physical beauty of the area -- we have yet another reason to live in San Francisco and on the Peninsula and Silicon Valley -- the great hospitals.
According to a report in US New and World Reports, two of our local hospitals made the top 20 honor roll of hospitals in the nation:
- # 7 --- University of California San Francisco Medical Center
- #14 --- Stanford University Hospital ranks

I find the criteria for ranking interesting. I wonder how those same hospitals would rank if patient surveys were #1 and not specialties for awarding points. I had a chat just today about the care of lack there of with a local broker that just had emergency surgery.
I agree with Tammy Lankford, regarding how they are ranked. No doubt they are both excellent hospitals. I hear the word hospital and I just want to run Forrest run
Personally, I find the ranking suspicious myself, but thanks for sharing the survey and results Lottie Kendall
Rankings and data collection are always interesting, Tammy Lankford, and Jennifer Mackay - one can pull data to show just about any result one wants. Locally, both Stanford and UCSF have excellent reputations.
I hear you, Kathleen Daniels - however, I certainly was glad last year to have a fabulous surgeon and hospital here in SF when Gene's back surgery took place.
When we need them, we want the best!
Lottie Kendall - Your area has a lot of top ranked industries, including great hospital rankings!
The closest one to us in the top 20 is John Hopkins in Baltimore.
I just hope most hospitals are having a great day when I arrive Lottie Kendall
I agree, Laura Allen, Lake Tahoe - Truckee Real Estate for Sale www.TahoeLauraLuxuryHomes.com
Johns Hopkins is a superb hospital with a great reputation, Chris Ann Cleland - one can't go wrong there!
I get what you're saying, Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, Broker, Tacoma Washington - I want a surgeon or doctor who is well rested and in a happy mood!
