What to do while waiting for the storm to come

Beginning last Friday, the "storm of the decade" was expected to hit the San Francisco Bay Area. So what does one do while waiting for the storm that hasn't yet arrived? If you live and work in San Mateo County, heading to ones favorite County Park or Open Space Preserve might be the answer.

That's what my granddaughter, husband and I did Friday afternoon - hiked the somewhat muddy trails at Edgewood County Park

She took some great photos (like the 2 here) and had great patience and fun with watching the busy little guy in her video:

Rain or shine, our open space is worth a visit, and one of the many reasons living here is in such demand.

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Lottie stay safe, I remember I was on the East Coast about 20 years ago or so when it was the Storm of the Century.... last year we expected El Nino.... and  I swear they were off by a year... so how is it now? Endre

Saturday was showers off and on, Endre Barath, Jr. ; today we've had periods of heavy rain and gusty winds. There have been some power outages and downed trees, but less severe than forecasters had feared.

The north bay, however, is having a fair amount of flooding in Napa, the Russian River, Fairfield,, etc.

The East Coast weather people aren't always right either!

I'm glad to hear it wasn't as bad as the weather people had predicted.

Good morning, Kat Palmiotti and Endre Barath, Jr. - East Coast, West Coast -- weather predictions are much better than they were 10 years ago, but it's still a bit of a guess as to exact timing and intensity.

Have a great day, whichever coast is home!

Good morning Lottie and welcome home. The pictures are terrific and I'm glad the guy in the video isn't in my yard.

Ha! Sheila Anderson - I must agree that gophers are cuter when they are not in our yards! This little guy was very busy--maybe hunkering down before the storm?

Lottie Kendall - I'm getting terrible weather reports for your area on my local news channel. I love that you don't get rattled and stay indoors just to hide. Why that little gopher doesn't seem to mind at all! What a cute video your granddaughter took. It's much healthier to not be afraid, be cautious, and don't ignore the warnings.

Have a wonderful day!

Be wise, not afraid is how I try to approach situations, Patricia Feager.  The storm was less than expected, but some areas were hit very hard.

Lottie

Prepare for the storm . . . . and be ready.

Good luck and success.
