Grateful...

Feeling grateful ...

..... for the rains that have officially ended the 5-year drought here in Northern California

..... for the green grass growing on our hillsides

..... for living in this incredibly, achingly beautiful area just a hop, skip and a jump from my house, and open to all to enjoy

Enjoying hiking Mt. Tam in the winter sun(hiking in the winter sunshine on Mt. Tamalpais, Matt Davis trail, January 15, 2017)

--- Come for a visit; Stay for a lifetime!

Lottie for us it will take about another three or four years to get out of the Drought, provided we get winters like this for the next three or four years, just wrote a post about it yesterday:) Endre

WOW Lottie Kendall that certainly is a beautiful place.  I'm grateful that you got some rain.

I am looking forward to things "Greening up" here as well Lottie Kendall but it will be another 3 months for sure. I am thankful that our winter has let up a bit for now and we are blessed with mild temps in the 20's to 40's.

The rain was welcome but to bad it all came at one time

Lottie, hiking in the winter sunshine on Mt. Tamalpais, Matt Davis trail... beautiful and wish I was there.

Endre Barath, Jr. - we're now fine water-wise in northern CA; hope the same soon for you. I look forward to reading your blog post.

Thanks, Vickie Teel - things have been sooooo dry here for 5 years, terrible wild fires, etc. We're delighted this winter, even with some flooding.

Hi Bob "RealMan" Timm - your comment made me smile. We're such wimps here; SF has been around 49° several mornings lately and we're shivering!

My lease house features "Lake Sutton" in the back yard. We have rain many times during a month. It's a good thing and thank you Jesus.

Why do you go to such extremes. In Washington we just let the rain come as it may and just complain  Lottie Kendall

Hi Lottie, we get many of our vegetables from California so, we are grateful too!  Looks like one of those storm-tracks is going to miss CA this week and dump several inches on us - keeping our boots at the ready!  John and Kat

PS - John had a contract job with Utility.com (RIP) many years ago, flying into Oakland every week, with an apartment in Marin.  When the hills were green in the Spring it was very beautiful from both the air and ground.  To be sure, Mt. Tam was quite a stand-out but, I never had the chance to hike on it.

William Feela - yes, the first few weeks of off and on rain was perfect; last week too much came down too fast---but, we're not complaining too much.

Rebecca Gaujot, the Go To Realtor® - maybe you should put a winter vacation to San Francisco and this area on your dream list!

Posted by Lottie Kendall, Serving San Mateo County and San Francisco (Today | Sotheby's International Realty) 11 months ago

Sussie Sutton - I'd love to see a picture of "Lake Sutton!" Clever name!

Yes Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, Broker, Tacoma Washington we make a big fuss over rain--that's what 5 years of drought does to one.

Alexander- Slocum - we'll keep those veggies coming your way, Kat! SF is an easy 3-day weekend trip from your area - perhaps you're ready to visit again, and this time head to Mt. Tam for a fabulous hike.

No question about it, the ending of our California drought is a great deal to be thankful for!

Posted by Myrl Jeffcoat, Greater Sacramento Real Estate Agent (GreatWest Realty) 11 months ago

Good morning Sheila Anderson - I'm glad you enjoyed our green hills. Stay warm today!

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat - the rainfall amounts have been amazing. I read that San Francisco received more rain in the first 11 days of January that in the entire 2013 rain year! I must say, though, that I have enjoyed 3 days of sunshine before the rains return.

Lottie-Good to hear that you our out of the drought. Looks like you got a bit of flooding. Love that picture.

Lottie I've been hoping and praying all the rain would end the drought and not create too much havoc on people.  Next stop - let's hope the entire state ends it's drought status.  Lovely photo - I could wake up to that everyday!

Good morning, Anna Banana Kruchten - southern California stills needs more rain, for sure. You would love hiking on Mt. Tam!

Good morning, Sharon Lee - only localized, minor flooding in SF; some trees down. Hiking was superb on Sunday!

That is just so pretty.  My daughter just got back from a weekend trip to Palo Alto to visit a friend.  The pictures are beautiful.

Hi Belinda Spillman - those hills on the slope of Mt. Tam are some of the most gorgeous anywhere I've been, and we hike them year round. It's a great venue for a sunny winter's day hike.

Hello Grant Schneider - we're in for more rain, off and on, for the next 5 days; let's hope Endre Barath, Jr. in southern California gets some of it, too.

Posted by Lottie Kendall, Serving San Mateo County and San Francisco (Today | Sotheby's International Realty) 11 months ago

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint - here in the San Francisco Bay Area we're fortunate to have so much protected open space lands to enjoy, as well as the benefits of living in an urban area.

Wishing you a great day,

Lottie

Lottie, all of those items listed in your post are ones to be grateful for and ones to enjoy. You do  live in a wonderful area with so many things to do and see.

Posted by Robert Bob Gilbert, Your Katy TX ( West of Houston) Real Estate Expert (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Anderson Properties) 11 months ago

Hi Robert Bob Gilbert - have you checked on your favorite wineries? Flooding in Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties has been widespread. Last I heard the vintners weren't too worried; unless the water stayed high, the vines should be able to handle short-term flooding now since the vines are dormant.

Perhaps next time you and Yolanda are in CA, you'll want to add a visit to Mt. Tamalpais to your agenda.

Cheers,

Lottie
